Modulation Z - O'Fallon, Missouri

Modulation Z is a winter drum line group consisting of high school aged students from the O'Fallon, MO and St. Peters, MO area. Started in 2013, Modulation Z was created for those students who did not have a winter program at their "home" schools as a means for them to participate in this fun and exciting experience. It was originally conceived to be a onetime thing or something that would occur every so often. But, due to the overwhelming positive feedback from students, parents and the community, it was apparent that "Mod Z" should take place every year.

Modulation Z is the only all High School aged performance group to participate in PIA class in the Mid Continent Color Guard Association (MCCGA) Although they have only competed in the WGI World circuit for 4 years, they have already achieved Finalist status at the 2015 World Championships finishing 9th overall, 4th in 2016 and are the 2017 (PIA) WGI World Champions-setting the highest score in class history, being the only all High School aged group to ever win their class and the first group from Missouri to ever win any class-percussion or guard. Modulation Z is open to anyone in grades 9 through 12 with the desire and drive to work hard and achieve success. The average age is 16 and a half. Anybody from a seasoned percussionist to a freshman woodwind player can find a spot in Modulation Z.

In essence, Modulation Z is a performance group which attempts to do much more than provide a competitive performance opportunity for students or entertainment for an audience. Through the experience with our group, students will learn useful life skills, leadership skills, goal setting, and conflict resolution skills among others. The Modulation Z curriculum includes opportunities for student to exercise their potential not only as musicians, but as complete human beings. Modulation Z invites anyone to become a part of our performance family. Anyone with the right attitude, mindset and drive can join. Modulation Z strives to make a positive impact on our community with our philosophies and practices as well as by playing for several business openings, children's activities and music camps for special needs students every year.
